What Affects the Cost of Plumbing Work

From replacing a tap to renewing a pipe network — what pushes cost up or down.

Plumbing ranges from a quick simple fix to renewing a whole villa network. That's why a single price is hard to give, but the factors behind it can be understood.

Cost factors

The main ones:

  • Job type: fault repair, installation or network renewal
  • Number of faults or work points
  • Whether pipes are exposed or inside walls and floors
  • Need for opening and refinishing
  • Type and specification of replacement parts
  • Property size and number of floors

Parts and specifications

Parts of different quality differ in price and lifespan. Ask about proposed specifications and whether parts are included or charged separately.

Getting a more accurate estimate

Photograph the fault, note where and when it started, and mention the home's age and past repairs. If the fault is inside a wall it may need detection first; when we carry out the repair, the detection fee is deducted from its cost.
